Description
Jointly offered by SIM-one and the University of Toronto Centre for Interprofessional Education (IPE), this two-day intensive intermediate program focuses on combining interprofessional education (IPE) and simulation for high impact education and training in healthcare.
Using best practices with IPE and simulation methods for achieving educational objectives is paramount. This hands-on, flexible course will combine theory and practical applications. Participants will identify common elements between the two fields as well as finding new points of views and techniques that will enhance teaching in healthcare. Exercises involving simulation modalities, briefing/debriefing and facilitation will provide experiential learning of key principles.
The course takes place between 8am-4pm.
This course will address the following topics:
A Perfect Pairing:
Identify factors that are common between IPE and simulation
Dual Design:
Apply educational design and theory to the construction of an IPE simulation
Listening Heads:
Identify key elements for effective facilitation in terms of covering learning objectives, time management and maintaining a healthy learning climate
Building Together:
Compare and contrast simulation modalities to achieve IPE learning goals
Round Table:
Take part in open discussions.
