This event is designed to help preteens cultivate a positive relationship with their bodies and sport, understand basic anatomy, learn about nutrition, explore hormonal changes, and foster teamwork and empathy.
Format: In this 1 hour block, we will spend 30 minutes working out and 30 minutes on an educational topic with content relevant to the age group. See below for our weekly calendar.
Day 1: Self Appreciation
- Focus on loving our bodies for what they enable us to do
- Movement session
- Discussion on the importance of sleep and limiting screen time
Day 2: Understanding Basic Anatomy
- Learn about large muscle groups and their functions
- Movement session
Day 3: Nutrition Essentials
- Explore macronutrients, their roles, and where to find them in your diet
- Movement session
Day 4: Hormones and Body Awareness
- Understand changing hormones, what to expect, and what's normal
- Discussion on period products and body awareness
- Movement session
Day 5: Team Morale and Recap
- Emphasize treating others with kindness and respect
- Recap major take-home messages from the week
- Movement session
