Prince Edward Island

Visit Canada’s smallest province with this field trip to Prince Edward Island. We will stop at Jourimain National Wildlife Area on the way, then travel across the 13 km Confederation Bridge, visit PEI National Park, the Anne of Green Gables house and various cultural and natural points of interest.

Joggins’ Fossil Cliffs

This trip will start with some birding and hiking at Amherst Point Migratory Bird Sanctuary, then go to Joggins’ Fossil Cliffs, where you will tour cliffs containing prehistoric fossils and explore the beach on the Bay of Fundy. Heading back towards Sackville, we’ll visit Fort Beauséjour National Historic Site for a taste of culture and history. The final stop will be for snacks at a local blueberry farm. This trip will cost $105 CAD, not including lunch.

Bay of Fundy

Visit three locations on the Bay of Fundy, home to the world's largest tides. We will start at Mary’s Point Shorebird Discovery Centre to see large shorebird flocks, then head to Fundy National Park, where we will have the opportunity to visit the mud flats, Acadian forest and learn about the cultural history of the area. Finally, we will go to Hopewell Cape Provincial Park, famous for its picturesque rock stacks and arches.

***NOTES FOR ALL TRIPS***

All trips will involve some light to moderate walking, including on uneven surfaces, so appropriate footwear is needed. Temperatures during August can vary, especially along the coast of the Bay of Fundy, from 10°C with wind, fog or rain to 30°C with sun and high humidity. We recommend bringing layers, including wind and rain gear in case of cool weather, and hats and sufficient water to stay hydrated in case it’s hot. Water may be purchased at some locations, but please bring plenty. Ticks that carry Lyme disease are possible in all areas, and we recommend wearing long pants and close-toed shoes. We also recommend bringing bug spray and sunscreen.
