About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

When many people think of the grape variety Riesling, they might simply dismiss it with a simple, “I don’t like sweet wine”. It might be too bad for them, though—Riesling is made in all sorts of styles, from lusciously sweet Icewines through to bone-dry, austere styles of wine, and many can age gracefully for decades.

Though it’s the most well-known grape from what is now Germany, Riesling has a history stretching back hundreds of years. After hitting a heyday around the year 1900, when many of the most expensive wines in the world were Rieslings, it has fallen a lot in popularity since then, while still being acclaimed by many top wine critics. Just because something has fallen out of public popularity, however, doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of appreciation. Many places around the world, including Germany and France in the Old World, and Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States, create Rieslings with great finesse.

Join us at Metro Liquor tonight to get a taste of Riesling around the world and learn why it belongs in your cellar!
