About this event

  • 3 hours

The Nova Scotia Building sector experiences challenges on the path to net zero construction. Some identified barriers include the perceived cost of constructing high-efficiency buildings, workforce capacity issues, and regulatory roadblocks—a misalignment between the policies and incentives that encourage net zero construction and the reality of the real estate and development market.

Join the Building to Zero Exchange (BTZx) and construction and building industry leaders for a 3-hour roundtable session designed to identify issues and allow for lots of discussion.

Themes for Discussion

What are the issues faced when constructing high-performance, energy-efficient buildings?

What’s the motivation for greener buildings? What are the policy, regulatory or financing challenges you face?

How can BTZx support the development community on the path to net zero?

Expected Attendees

Developers, builders, representatives from federal, provincial, and municipal governments, utilities, CANS, and other industry associations.

About the Building to Zero Exchange

At the Building to Zero Exchange (BTZx) we’re supporting collaboration and growing capacity as we begin to retrofit and create high-performance buildings efficiently and at a large scale.

As a Centre of Excellence , we’re working in partnership with industry, government and others to grow the number of net zero buildings in Nova Scotia. We will showcase leadership and inspiring local innovation while promoting collaboration and equity and workforce opportunities in the net-zero transition.

As a hub for this community of practice, we’re dedicated to bringing together diverse voices to and growing capacity across the building sector through research, events, resource development, skills training, and communications.

Ultimately, we see the Exchange serving as a rallying point for stakeholders from across the full spectrum of the building ecosystem. We’ll work together as collective champions for the innovation, policy, business, and regulatory actions necessary to advance Nova Scotia’s net-zero transition.
