About this event

  • 4 hours

The Toronto Comic Jam returns to its regular time of the last Sunday of the month! So get excited for Sunday May 26th in the backroom of the Cameron House.

If you aren’t too burnt-out from the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, or if seeing so many amazing comics and artists has inspired you, this event is for you! You can draw some comics and get to know fellow artists when they aren't standing behind a table trying to pay their rent and grocery bills!

The way the Jam works is pretty simple: one person draws a panel, someone else adds to it and we keep going like that until a page is done. The paper is provided and everyone brings all of their favourite drawing tools. The finished pages are collected into a zine (and I promise to finish and print one this time) that you can take home!

If you can’t make it out in person, we have an online Comic Jam and Discord where you can connect with Comic Jammers. If you want to see more about what the Comic Jam is like, there's our Facebook group and our Instagram. That’s about it, so see you on Sunday May 26th in the backroom of the Cameron House, 408 Queen Street West.

Frequently asked questions

When you say Comic Jam, do you mean “Stand-Up Comics”?

NOOOOO! This is about DRAWING comics! We sit-down for this.

I’m worried about my drawing skills, can I go if I’m an amateur?

Of course! It doesn’t matter what your drawing skills are like, everyone’s welcome here. Sometimes the simplest of drawings are the best drawings. Don’t get compare yourself to others and come and have fun drawing with artists from a variety of backgrounds

Is this place wheelchair accessible?

Sorta? If you call the Cameron House, they'll say they're wheelchair accessible but the washrooms are really tight and hard to get into, so I guess the place is sorta accessible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I want to break into the comic industry, can you guys help me out?

Professional comic artist from various parts of the industry have come to the Comic Jam over the years but this isn’t the time and place to bring your portfolio for critique. A lot of Jammers self publish their work so you can maybe ask advice, but this is a time and place to make comics and relax
