About this event

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Course Dates are Mondays, April 8, 2024 - June 17, 2024, 6 PM - 9 PM

NO CLASS: May 20,2024

All classes are online via Zoom

Eligibility: This course is open to ages 16+

This 10-week introductory sign language course is designed for students with no previous knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or with limited basic competencies. Students learn to handle basic everyday communication in ASL incorporating Deaf culture and Deaf Community content. Topics center on Getting to Know you, Exchanging Personal Information, and Discussing Living Situations. Grammar is introduced in context with an emphasis on developing question and answer skills.

A “no-voice” teaching method is used to reinforce the learning experience. You'll learn through virtual classroom instruction and role-play, as well as videotext and a workbook. The videotext and workbook supplement and reinforce the virtual classroom instruction so you can review, practice, and retain what you learn.

Our qualified Deaf instructors use Signing Naturally, a sign language curriculum that teaches both ASL and Deaf culture to help you better understand the communication needs of the Deaf community.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: please register as soon as possible to avoid class cancellations due to insufficient registrations. In some cases, we may reduce the number of course hours to accommodate smaller registration numbers. We do this so that the course can continue for the benefit of our student's progress. If there is a change, we will notify you.
