Event Details

Course length: 2 Days

Prerequisite(s): 
Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS). Register with CCSA for this two-day course. Proof of course completion must be provided prior to attending auditor training course.

IMPORTANT NOTE: if you took the prerequisite OHSMS course prior to 2019, due to the legislative changes you will be required to pass (80%) an open book challenge exam before attending the auditor training.  Those who do not pass the exam will be required to take the OHSMS two-day course before acceptance into auditor training.

NOTE: For non-members where travel is required additional fees will apply

**Please note that pre-registration and receipt of payment are required prior to participation in any CCSA course.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will need to bring a laptop or tablet with Microsoft Excel installed to the auditor training course to use the audit instrument.

Course Description:

The main objective of the auditor training is to enable the participants to plan, conduct, complete and submit audits under the Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) program. The audits must meet the requirements of the Partnerships audit protocol, which is used under the PIR program to determine eligibility for a Certificate of Recognition (COR).

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Explain the requirements for achieving and maintaining a Certificate of Recognition (COR).
Explain the auditor certification and auditor code of ethics requirements.
Summarize the PIR occupational health and safety management system audit process steps, including the activities required to plan, conduct, complete and submit a PIR system audit.
Calculate interview and work site samples that meet Partnerships’ representative sampling requirements.
Practice validating each element of an occupational health and safety management system against the PIR Standards through the use of

  • Documentation reviews;
  • Interviews; and
  • Observations

Calculate the appropriate score for sample audit questions based on the audit findings provided.
Understand and demonstrate how sample audit notes meet Partnerships’ guidelines.
Understand and demonstrate how element’s existing strengths and suggestions for improvement meet Partnerships’ guidelines.
Examine the CCSA quality assurance process and identify the requirements for submitting an audit that meets Partnerships’ standards.
