About this event

Express your creativity and customize your own 1-of-1 basketball planters. White basketball
planter, choice of plant, gold stand, and all customization materials included. This one hour session will allow you to connect with other like-minded women and express your creativity in a unique way!

The Give and Grow is a women-led community centred around one main purpose: growth. Our vision is to help positively impact the next generation of young girls and women through sport, in-house wellness workshops, and female mentorship. We use the love of basketball and plants as a vessel to encourage personal growth and impact local communities.

The Give and Grow's Workshop Facilitator Layla Berih is a program coordinator at Shoot for Peace, a photographer and active member in many communities in Toronto. She has a love for youth and the arts and invest her time pouring back into her communities.

This event is curated to celebrate and unite Muslim female athletes and allies. Although this event is for females only, you do not need to identify as Muslim to take part - your allyship is valued and appreciated! Frequently asked questions

I don’t play basketball. Can I still take part in the event?

Of course! In addition to the basketball tournament, there will be plenty of workshops and other programming incorporating themes of holistic wellness, spiritual growth, and self-care that all Muslim women can take advantage of. You can also attend the event just to watch the basketball games!

What is the format of the event? Is it drop-in or do I need to register? Do I need to pay?

Registration is required for all free community workshops. Wait lists will be open once spots are filled. If you do not register, you may still drop in and attend to watch games, browse the Modest Activewear Exhibit, do rock climbing and more! Workshops are free but donations are welcome.

Is this only for Muslim women? What age is this event for?

While this event is curated for and by Muslim women, non-Muslim female allies are welcome and encouraged to participate and show their support! This event is female-only and open to all women and girls aged 7 and above.

Is it kid- friendly?

Please note that there will be no childcare offered at the event. However, mothers who lack childcare options may bring their children with them (boys and girls aged 7 and under). Strollers must be left in the foyer area. Children aged 7 and under may take part in select drop-in activities.
