Course Description:
What Students will Learn:
● How to make an adorable chickadee
● Basic needle felting techniques
● Felting needle types and functions
● How to build a 3d form using wool
● How to attach parts to a larger form
● How to do colour blending/gradation with wool
Supplies: Participants will be supplied with a kit which includes 2 triangle and 2 spiral needles, core wool, coloured wool, and felting sponge.
Instructor Bio: Sara Young is a fibre artist, woodworker and illustrator from Cochrane, Alberta. She is a graduate from the Fibre program at the Alberta College of Art + Design (now AU Arts). Sara enjoys needle felting creatures of mythology and folklore, especially fae adjacent characters. Her feltwork strives to evoke a sense of whimsy and harkens back to the feeling of reading a storybook when viewed. Her woodworking primarily focuses on textile tools, such as weaving shuttles, lucets, and tapestry looms.
