About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

When it comes to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, many organizations find themselves asking ‘where are the men?’

For many years, gender equity was framed as the liberation and advancement of women and girls, and only of late have we included other gender-diverse causes around trans and nonbinary people.

However, men are deeply impacted by their gender too, and conversations have not been put forward in DEI in ways that leave men feeling like they have a role to play other than that of all — resulting in many men appearing stuck, apathetic, or even resistant.

Join us as we explore how to:

    • Challenge traditional gender norms.
    • Create an environment where everyone can thrive.
    • Drive systemic change in your organization.
    • Foster a culture of inclusivity.

This session is open to people of ALL genders. Though men & boys may be the subject of the conversation, those of us who care about and are connected to them in our communities have a stake in the conversation about changing the way we see, act, and think about masculinity.

Facilitator: Jake Stika (He/Him), Executive Director, Next Gen Men

As Next Gen Men's Executive Director, Jake is a passionate speaker and facilitator focused on gender-based issues related to the social and emotional development of young men, the health and well-being of men in communities, and gender equity in workplaces for a future where boys and men experience less pain, and cause less harm.

Jake was named one of Avenue Magazine's Top 40 Under 40, as well as having earned recognition from Ashoka, the British Council, and the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion. He has spoken at the United Nations as part of the Canadian Delegation, and participated in the UN Women Safe Cities Initiative Global Forum. He is also a proud advisor to the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association, Canadian Women & Sport, as well as the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter.

    Moderator: Wyle Baoween, CEO, Inclusivity
