About this event

Celebrate Pride Month and Cancer Survivor month!

Charles Hayter (he/him) is a queer elder, retired oncologist and performer. His book Cancer Confidential: Backstage Dramas in the Radiation Clinic shares stories of people and families, including his own, dealing with the emotional fallout of a cancer diagnosis.

The stories are woven together by the story of his father’s cancer and death, and how that experience led him on a journey towards authenticity as an out gay man. Before medicine, his background was in theatre, and the book draws many fascinating parallels between the worlds of theatre and medicine.

Dr. Hayter will read excerpts from the book and engage in a Q&A.

Books will be available for purchase.

Drop in, no registration required.

** Charles will be appearing in the upcoming show The Delightful Chaos of Mistila and the Motlies at Toronto Fringe 2024 in July.
