CREATIVE CONTINUUM 2024: GARDENING/JARDINER is presented by Arts Network Ottawa, in partnership with Apt613, Ottawa Black Artists Kollective, Assembly of Seven Generations, Incubator13, and Carleton University's School of Industrial Design + Urban Imaginaries Lab.

Creative Continuum 2024 is hosted at the Rideau Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre and catered by Nonna's Famous Pizza. The theme, "GARDENING", invites participants to view our local arts community as more than an ecosystem - it is a garden requiring cooperation, intention, and care. Creative Continuum 2024 will explore topics like climate action, place-making, and creative entrepreneurship that bring together community, artists, and change-makers to generate forward-thinking, action-oriented discussions.

A portion of conference ticket sales will go to the Rideau Rockcliffe Food Bank!

•SOWING MACHINES: Learn from Indigenous creators about their approach to sustainable slow-fashion.

•URBAN IMAGINARIES #2: What does it mean for art to work with intention within and for a community?

•UNSUNG SPACES: What can we learn from artist-centred spaces and how can artists best advocate for themselves in creative hubs.

•HUMAN DIGITAL STRATEGY: Demystifying an approach to digital strategic planning that puts people first, not technology.

•WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM?: Roundtable discussion and opportunity for artists to identify specific challenges they face in their practice.
•BRIDGING SCIENCE X ART: Cross-disciplinary discussion about the decline of insect populations.

•URBAN IMAGINARIES #3: What is care within a community?

•NO ART ON A DEAD PLANET: Examining MDE’s global movement, and how these approaches towards the climate crisis can be transposed into other creative disciplines.

14:00 – 15:00

•ARTIST TALK WITH XAVIOR KAYVON: Identify the intersections between community identity, art-making, and solidarity through celebrating our diverse histories within Ottawa.

•URBAN IMAGINARIES #4: Participants will develop prototypes using the prompt: “How the arts community can contribute to the local community.”

15:00 – 16:00

•ARTpreneur Pitch Contest | Concours de pitch: To end the day, we will hear from creative entrepreneurs and community-enthusiasts who will pitch their ideas and project proposals that respond to the topics and challenges addressed in this year’s Conference.

Pour terminer la journée, nous entendrons des entrepreneurs créatifs et des passionnés de la communauté qui vont présenter leurs idées et leurs propositions de projets qui répondent aux sujets et aux défis abordés lors de la conférence de cette année.

Le Continuum Créatif 2024 se déroule au Centre de Ressources Communautaires de Rideau-Rockcliffe et sera traités par Nonna's Famous Pizza. Le thème, "JARDINAGE", invite les participants à considérer notre communauté artistique locale comme plus qu'un écosystème - c'est un jardin nécessitant coopération, intention et soin. Le Continuum Créatif 2024 explorera des sujets tels que l'action climatique, la création d'espaces et l'entrepreneuriat créatif qui réunissent la communauté, les artistes et les agents du changement pour générer des discussions orientées vers l'action et tournées vers l'avenir.

Une partie des ventes de billets de conférence sera versée à la Banque Alimentaire de Rideau-Rockcliffe!
