The National Eating Disorder Centre (NEDIC) estimates that at any given time between 840,000 and 1,750,000 people in Canada have symptoms of eating disorders. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, it is only getting worse.

Join us on Tuesday, June 18th, 4 -5:30pm PT for an engaging conversation led by Michelle Brewer - Registered Clinical Counsellor, philosopher, post-secondary instructor, and content-lead of an novel approach to treating disordered eating through a program of ketamine-assisted therapy within a community of practice. The talk will explore the impact of disordered eating on wellbeing, the power of intuitive eating, and how psychedelic-assisted therapy may offer a bridge towards healing. 


About the speaker: 

Michelle Brewer is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in private practice, philosopher, post-secondary instructor, and Ph.D. candidate at University of Victoria. With expertise spanning women's issues, food and eating concerns, abortion, and end-of-life support, Michelle has contributed to numerous academic journals, conferences, and blogs. Michelle has shared her expertise through teaching at various universities in Alberta, Québec and British Columbia. 

Michelle is a graduate of the inaugural offering of Vancouver Island University’s Graduate Certificate in Psychedelic-assisted therapy program. She is also a supervisor with TheraPsil. She is a member of the ethics committee with the Psychedelic Association of Canada, being deeply committed to ensuring ethical practices in psychedelic therapy. Michelle is a facilitator with Roots to Thrive, a program that offers ketamine-assisted therapy, and is the content lead on its pilot program on Intuitive Eating. She is a long time student of Geneen Roth and her Women, Food and God program.
