About this event

This professional learning course provides wonderful opportunities for Early childhood educators to build upon their own cultural understanding and capacity to develop a greater awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture to help promote a deeper awareness of reconciliation. Teachers will develop a deeper understanding of mandatory policies (Aboriginal Education Policy), priorities and Early Years Learning Framework outcomes and expectations in regard to building a culture that embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into your EYLF curriculum programs across literacy and numeracy. Currently this course is aimed at Preschool, Daycares, Early Childhood teachers and staff.

We all know how important it is to feel safe and confident when delivering authentic, age and culturally appropriate Indigenous perspectives into our classrooms and schools. This course provides opportunities for teachers to look at some of the wonderful First Nations education resources TIPIAC has for literacy and numeracy. We will help teachers develop practical activities to implement into their daily curriculum programs for literacy and numeracy, as well as look at ways to incorporate the Eight Ways Aboriginal Education Pedagogy into their daily lessons.

After sign up, teachers will receive a program outline along with a PDF booklet which will be referenced throughout the course. This PDF booklet comes with TIPIAC literacy and numeracy educational resource samples, a list of educational videos and an extensive list of further research/reading. The Zoom webinar details, as well as the course PDF booklet will be emailed to participants 1 week prior to course date. Please note that this will be sent to the email you use at sign up.

This course runs for 5 hours and will be broken into three sessions. The professional learning will take place in a ZOOM webinar, all participants will receive a TIPIAC course completion certificate.
