INSPIRE JUSTICE

FUEL CREATIVE CHANGE

Embodied Art for Social Justice is a supportive and healing space to transform the frustration, anger, and grief out of the body into creation. Change happens when we make space for something greater.

Join us in community to get out of the head, and into the body to explore the profound connection between art, embodied connection, and energy healing. Find a community of changemakers who believe in the power of healing for the greater good. Leave connected with a sense of transformed energy into art.

Create a community mural and leave with a collection of abstract art.

The revolution is through the body.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Intuitive drawing and painting
  • Movements to help get in the body
  • Energy healing meditation

NOTES ABOUT ACTIVITIES

  • No previous art experience is necessary
  • Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting paint on
  • This is a choice-based practice offered on the floor and standing
  • There will be props and pillows to support you
  • Wheelchair accessibility is available, please contact adri@adricreative.com for additional support

AGREEMENTS

  • Feelings are welcome and do not need to be justified or explained; honor the feelings that arise in others by allowing them to feel without fixing or advising. You are encouraged to contact a mental health professional for additional support.
  • Use the names and pronouns people request, and honor the lived experience of those in the group.
  • Will not tolerate hate speech, racism, anti-trans, anti-queer, anti-feminist or other forms of discrimination.

Art heals and transforms. Turn pain into expression. Practice moving energy into action.

This event is inspired and in response to the recent global protests raising awareness about the world's injustices. Special credit to the Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice Undergraduates Association at UBC for their work and embodiment of change. Follow their work at @grsjua_ubc
