About this event

  • 1 hour 15 minutes

Local government has an important role in Truth and Reconciliation. This webinar will share highlights from WTC’s research into the progress BC municipalities are making on the Calls to Action along with successes and challenges they’re facing. We'll highlight key takeaways from WTC’s recent report: The TRC Calls to Action in BC Municipalities: Progress, Barriers, and Opportunities to Accelerate Implementation.

This webinar will explore:

  • The role of local government in advancing the TRC Calls to Action including which Calls to Action municipalities can progress, what challenges they may face, and ways to overcome these barriers
  • What implementation can look like on the ground
  • Ways to advocate to your local government to advance the Calls@

Workshop leads: Clara Prager (she/her)

Clara Prager is a project manager, communicator and relationship-builder. She coordinates WTC’s research on municipalities’ progress in implementing the Truth & Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. Prior to WTC, Clara led communications for a stakeholder engagement consultancy where she helped forecast trends in social and environmental advocacy and co-founded a peer-learning network for women in sustainability. She also has experience in government, political organizing and Indigenous conservation financing. But as a fervent believer in people power, her heart has always been with grassroots advocacy. She is inspired by organizers building movements within and outside of institutions to create a more just world. She holds an interdisciplinary B.A. from UBC. A highlight of her degree was co-creating radio content for Unceded Airwaves, a radio show that centres Indigenous voices. As a settler, she is eager to learn from the WTC community’s knowledge on anti-racism and decolonization.

Women Transforming Cities (WTC) is a grassroots Vancouver-based non-profit that seeks to dismantle intersecting systems of oppression to transform where we live into places of social, economic and political equity. They do this with an intersectional feminist lens through civic literacy and education, research, advocacy and collaboration. Become a member of WTC.
