About this event

  • 4 days 6 hours

A specialty day program for ages 10-12. See our website for our 12-14yo programs.

In all Fire & Flower programs, we create a space of radical acceptance for girls and non-binary youth to explore 'coming-of-age'. We celebrate the ways we are both unique from each other and unified in our shared experiences & concerns. Participants are supported to explore the joys and challenges that come with growing up in a fun, judgement free environment. This is a LGBTQ2SIAP+ inclusive and welcoming space.

Each of our 4 empowerment camps delve into different themes and topics surrounding adolescence and young womanhood/adulthood. Each camp balances learning with relevant activities, crafts and a daily dose of nature time. We also provide space for vulnerability and openness with our daily heart circles.

Kingfisher Camp

In Coast Salish culture, kingfisher birds symbolize right timing, moving forward in life and abundance. Our Kingfisher Camp curriculum includes:

  • Physical developments and emotional shifts at this time in life
  • The diversity of anatomy in different bodies (female, male, intersex)
  • An in-depth look at menstruation

We keep groups small with only 6-12 participants to maximize connection & intimacy. It’s like a 5-day sleepover without actually sleeping over!

A parent or significant adult is asked to join us Friday afternoon from 1-3:30pm for some special facilitated connection time. Please make arrangements to join us for this meaningful afternoon.

Details about what to bring and required forms will be emailed to you about 2 weeks before the program.

P lease note: This is not an overnight camp.

Investment: We work very hard to reduce tuition as much as possible for these specialty programs. Camp this year is $330, $90 less than last year! At the same time, we receive many bursary requests every year so we've created the option to donate to our bursary fund when you pay for camp. Thanks so much for considering helping families in need.

Fire & Flower is reviving ‘the village’ of women supporting girls as they come-of-age through in-depth, transformative programs. We empower self-identified girls ages 10-14 in a non-binary & LGBTQ2SIAP+ inclusive environment, and explore relevant issues such as body positivity, media literacy, and stereotypes. Through mentorship, nature-connection, and community-building, participants build confidence and pride in womanhood, discover their personal power, and develop resilience to engage their future. We are a registered Canadian charity, operating under the United Girls of the World Society. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be made through Canada Helps: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/fireandflowergirls/
