We are thrilled to be collaborating with Operation Black Vote Canada(OBVC) and the 1834 Foundation to host this event. OBVC is a multi-partisan organization that supports the election of Black Canadians to public office. They educate, motivate and advocate for Black Canadians to participate in Canada’s government, agencies, boards, commissions, civil service and political processes at all levels. Unique among other traditional organizations that recruit candidates, they don’t endorse candidates or advocate for one political party over another, but instead aim to provide information to expand the community of Black Canadians considering public office and encourage civic engagement in Black communities across the country.

The 1834 Foundation was founded originally as part of Operation Black Vote Canada’s youth initiatives, the 1834 Fellowship was launched in 2019, with the Foundation itself being created and launched in 2023. The organization is dedicated to connecting young Black leaders in Canada with the notion that public policy is a noble vehicle for public service by increasing the pool of Black leaders in public service careers and public policy positions and developing and training them to inform local, national, and international policies.

About Equal Voice

Equal Voice is a national, bilingual, non-profit, multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada.

Equal Voice regards the under-representation of women in Canada's Parliament, in our provincial/territorial legislatures, and on municipal and band councils, as a fundamental deficit in Canada’s democratic institutions.

Founded in 2001, Equal Voice brings women and men together from across the political spectrum in its chapters and local groups across the country. They include chapters in: Yukon, British Columbia (Victoria, Central Vancouver Island and Mainland), Alberta (South and North), Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario (Toronto, Kitchener/Waterloo and Ottawa), Quebec, three of the four Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick), as well as a dynamic national youth chapter.
