About this event

A short story writer, two novelists, and a poet walk into the Mad Hatter Comedy Club... and charm us with superb readings from their brand new books!

This May, Freehand Books celebrates four new works from four talented writers. Join us at the Mad Hatter Comedy Club for readings from Edmontonians Catherine Owen and Jasmina Odor, Calgarian Marion Douglas, and Ottawan Sara Power. After brief readings from each author, we'll host a moderated Q&A period with the authors.

Please RSVP so we can anticipate attendance in advance.

Please note: While this reading is being held in a comedy club, it is not a comedy show!

Catherine Owen reads from Moving to Delilah, a poetry collection about one woman’s journey from BC to a new life in Alberta, where she buys an old house and creates a new meaning of home.

Jasmina Odor regales us with The Harvesters, an offbeat and sweet novel about family, loss and recovery, and the magic of memory.

Marion Douglas presents The Game of Giants, a novel about the unpredictability of parenthood, a journey into the unchartered territory that is having a child, especially when that child turns out to be different.

Sara Power debuts with Art of Camouflage, a collection of stories about girls and women caught in the orbit of the military.
