The invitation is extended to interested philanthropic staff and board members from funder organizations. There is no cost to participate. Funder organizations are asked to invite up to 5 representatives from grantee organizations that they have relationships with, to attend the gathering and witness the shared learning and commitments to action that funders are making. ***Event Description for PAUSE for Nourishment | Words from the Circle

Indigenous, Black and racialized cousins:

How are you doing? PAUSE. How are you feeling? PAUSE. How is your energy? BREATHE.

Indigenous, Black and racialized cousins:

The labour of movement building, of liberation, of solidarity, of systems change, of resistance, of care, of love, of accountability -- it is heavy, it is tiring.

This invitation is for you. In the spirit of community love and care, we would like to invite you to join us in a PAUSE for Nourishment. A pause to receive our *pillows. A pause to fill our tea cups. A pause to celebrate our magic.

The Circle on Philanthropy is delighted to host BIPOC folks working in movement building, charities, nonprofits, and philanthropic organizations for an afternoon of community connection, healing and groundedness.

*There are too few opportunities for Indigenous, Black and racialized folks to rest despite the fact that their labour, their wisdom, and their bodies are at the forefront of leading vital work in the community. ‘Giving your pillows', is The Circle’s way of acknowledging and demonstrating a reorientation toward rest, wellness and nourishment for BIPOC folks deserving of REST. This teaching was brought forward by Bina Patel during The Circle’s 2023 Partners in Reciprocity: Integration session, as well as through teachings from The Nap Ministry.
