As Ontario looks to expand its electricity system to meet growing demands driven by economic growth and demand for clean electricity, Ontario will have to again look at renewables to meet some of these needs. It has been some time since Ontario has had a significant procurement of wind and solar resources. It is a good time to discuss the role renewables can play as we plan for system expansion. We have assembled an expert panel to give us a range of perspectives on this topic: a renewables developer perspective; the perspective of municipalities, who will have a key role to play in approval of renewables; and a technical perspective on how to manage a significant increase in renewables to Ontario’s system.
