Event description

Description

International realist experts Dr. Gary Groot (University of Saskatchewan, Canada) and Dr. Gill Westhorp (Charles Darwin University, Australia) are hosting a three-day intensive workshop for students, researchers and professionals interested in developing and enhancing their skills in Realist Methodology.

Realist research is gaining momentum across diverse fields as a means to not only better understand complex issues, but to design solutions with real impact.

This workshop is an ideal opportunity to meet leaders in this field, network with colleagues, and refine your research skills. It will feature:

  • An Introduction to Realist Research, Synthesis, and Evaluation
  • An in-depth examination of current methods in synthesis and evaluation work
  • Guidance on applying philosophical assumptions to explain, in general terms, how policies and programs contribute to different outcomes in different contexts
  • Training on developing a realist project (from developing an initial tentative theory to data collection and analysis.)
  • Advice on collecting data
  • Direction on conducting realist evaluation
