Hair Braiding with Ashley

Ashley's work specializes in Braids.

"I love creating braids... intertwined with love, respect, prayers, culture, and traditions. We as Indigenous people love to represent our long hair as we werent allowed to wear it long due to Residential School."

Ashley's skills include teaching the basic braid, french braid, dutch braid, fish braids, braided ponytail, box braid, and twisting. Furthermore, Ashley talks about smudging, praying, and the respect of long hair. Today, braids have evolved in the way they are styled and worn, representing different ethnic and religious groups.
