Frequently asked questions

Does Parks Canada's free youth entry policy apply to ghost tours?

Parks Canada's free youth entry is only applicable to entry fees at national parks and national historic sites, and does not apply to interpretive programs like ghost tours.

Do I need to arrive early if I have already bought tickets?

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the tour begins in order to present your ticket or photo ID to the kiosk attendant. Please ensure you have your ticket (printed or on your mobile device) or a piece of valid photo ID.

What should I bring?

Your proof of purchase (printed tickets, ticket email on a mobile device, or a piece of valid photo ID) and yourself!

Where do ghost tours begin?

Ghost tours begin at the main gate of the Halifax Citadel (facing Brunswick Street, above the Town Clock) at 8:30 pm. The main gate will be closed after the tour enters the fort, so late entry is not possible.

Can I purchase tickets after 4:00 pm?

Online ticket sales close at 4:00 pm on the day of each tour. However, tickets are also sold (subject to availability) at the Halifax Citadel's front kiosk from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.

Will ghost tours run if it's raining?

Ghost tours usually run rain or shine, but may be cancelled in the event of particularly inclement weather. If in doubt, don't hesitate to contact us at info@halifaxcitadel.ca or 902-426-1990!

Where can I park?

Limited parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis near the Halifax Citadel's front kiosk, and in the pull-offs located around the Citadel's perimeter road. To reach these spots, turn onto the perimeter road using the Sackville Street entrance.
