About this event

Health Consumers Tasmania seeks to build and support the voice of patients and carers so they can have a say about health system improvements. We also work with the health sector, so it is in a better position to listen to and include the community in its decisions.

This free four-hour introductory training session seeks to introduce both members of the general public and health staff together to the theory behind what makes for good "health consumer engagement", and practical ways to go about it.

We also look specifically at what it means to take on the role of a "health consumer representative" and how they can best participate in government processes.

The session is open to all levels of experience, and encourages friendly and open discussion of key topics in a supportive and understanding way, guided by a powerpoint presentation.

Pre-reading for the session is provided online by coordinators of the Associate Degree in Applied Health and Community Support, University College, University of Tasmania. However please note, the pre-reading is not mandatory if you have difficulty with online training.

A small morning tea is provided upon arrival, as well as lunch mid session.

Please confirm your dietary requirements through the registration system.
