Description

Never been icefishing, but wanted to learn how? Want to add fresh, locally caught lake whitefish to your diet? Come with us, and do both!

Abundant and delicious, lake whitefish are one of the Yukon’s most overlooked sustainable food source. With the right gear, and a little know-how, icefishing is the perfect way to catch these fish, and with a frozen lake at your disposal, there’s room for friends to enjoy fishing together. Join Environment Yukon’s Senior Fisheries Biologist Oliver Barker at Little Atlin Lake to learn more about the what, where and how of icefishing for lake whitefish, and try persuading one to accompany you home for supper.

Dress suitably for the weather, and bring your own lunch, something to sit on (a bucket or camp chair). A thermarest or foam camping mattress is also recommended. If you’ve joined us for our icefishing rod and tackle building course, bring your rods and lures you built; other icefishing necessities (tackle, auger, ice scoop, etc.) will be supplied.

All anglers require Yukon Angling Licences – get yours online
