Join us for our first spring field trip at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia! For this day program, we’ll be joining staff from Ducks Unlimited Canada to explore the local wetlands and learn about their diversity and conservation! Note that this program is a repeat of the Junior Fall Field Trip at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park in November.

We’ll start at the Park’s Wetland Centre, where we'll introduce Terranaut Club, the Wildlife Park, and Ducks Unlimited Canada, before we walk along the 1km wetland trail where we will stop at the dock to explore the many critters, like invertebrates, that live in the water. We’ll collect, measure, and take a good look at the invertebrates and will also learn about how to test the quality of the water. During lunch, participants will have time to explore the Wetland Centre and get up close and personal with the resident species, including turtles, axolotls, snakes, and more! We'll follow lunch with a guided walk through the Park where we'll meet the 40+ species living there, including moose, bears, otters, and many more! We'll wrap up the day back at the Wetland Centre.

Participants should come prepared with a lunch and snacks, good hiking shoes, warm clothes, tall rubber boots, a backpack, and a raincoat.

Unlike our summer programs, there is no nomination process for field trips. Registration is first come, first served, and can be completed on the program’s Eventbrite page. This program is pay-what-you-can, and your donation must be made upon registering. If you are not able to make an online donation, please contact Julia at coordinator[at]terranautclub.com ASAP to reserve a space. If the program is full and you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please contact Julia.
