Description: Why aren't there more homes in Kitsilano? Land use in Kits hasn't changed much in 50 years. What are the trade-offs and consequences of the city's goal of prioritizing the status quo? This walk explores the history of where apartments in Kits are allowed to be built, the battles against them, and asks: what outcomes do we want in the 21st century?

Walk Leader: Peter Waldkirch is a director of Abundant Housing Vancouver, a grassroots, non-partisan housing organization that advocates for more housing in Vancouver.

How to recognize your walk leader(s): I've got a mustache and a portable microphone headset.

Accessibility Info: Busy sidewalks, Fast-paced, covering lots of ground, Will use speakers/voice amplification (Walk Leader to provide), This walk is along sidewalks in Kits. The route has curb cuts, but some sidewalks are narrow and somewhat uneven. The entire walk is about 3km.

Travel Tips: We start close to a B-Line stop, and end by Kits Beach, served by the #2 bus.
