Lean into bag making with this exciting project ! Choose to sew the messenger bag or the croissant bag style. The croissant bag can carry a small wallet, phone and keys and features inside pockets and a zip enclosure to keep everything safe !

The messenger style bag has an adjustable shoulder strap, and inside pockets , full lining and a zippered closure. During this 3 session class we will review all the elements and techniques to consider when sewing bags and small accessories ( from sourcing and upcycling part of the right material to cutting and sewing bags, elements of design of a bag, how to make a durable bag ).


What you will learn:

  • How to cut a pattern from fabric
  • Different sewing techniques (sewing more layers with a home machine, reinforcing seams, sewing zippers )
  • Sewing technical material ( nylon ) or thicker fabrics and sourcing the right material for bags
  • Finishing seams
  • Apply a snap button on the fabric, sew velcro

The sewing machine and Pattern for the workshop are provided,

Fabric and notions are in addition, ( we will recommend stores and a list of material at registration) Our studio carries all the material needed for the workshop , feel free to come shop our Circular Textile Project !

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.

Cécile Raizonville collaborate creatively with local textile and fashion brands. She graduated from LCI Fashion design program in Barcelona. She founded the womenswear Brand Matière Noire with two collaborators in Montréal which gained recognition at a national level. She moved to British Columbia in 2016 and has worked in the garment manufacturing industry since then. After offering consulting services for various brand in Vancouver, she officially launched MAE , a studio aiming at to bringing her experience and creativity at the service of the growth of a culture of sustainability in Fashion.
