Kyne, author of Math in Drag, shares her story of coming out in a conservative household, excelling in math at school, becoming a makeup star on the Internet, and eventually becoming a famous math-teaching drag queen. She shares some of her favourite math problems and her advice on embracing yourself and what makes you unique.

Kyne is the stage name for Kyne Santos, a world-class drag queen, mathematics communicator, author, podcast host, and keynote speaker.

Known as the math queen, Kyne makes popular educational videos on social media about math, science, history, and drag, which have been viewed more than 350 million times. She shows viewers that math is fun, artistic, and inclusive.

She started the first drag-STEM podcast Think Queen in 2023, started the weekly newsletter The Math Queen Digest in 2024, and recently authored a book with Johns Hopkins University Press, titled Math In Drag.

She has also appeared on the first season of Canada’s Drag Race, and has been named TikTok API trailblazer, Forbes’s 30 Under 30 in Toronto, and was nominated for a GLAAD award for TikTok Queer Advocate of the Year.
