About this event

Mindful Self-Compassion combines mindfulness and self-compassion skills to enhance our emotional well-being. It is a powerful evidence-based intervention that caregivers can use to navigate challenges that may be encountered on the caregiving journey.

While mindfulness increases our awareness of the present, self-compassion encourages greater kindness and understanding in times of suffering. It also helps us accept our perceived flaws and better understand our challenges. Research on self-compassion has shown that it increases well-being, improves relationships and reduces anxiety, depression and shame. Increased levels of self-compassion can transform empathic strain and burnout into meaningful engagement with others.

The Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC) is a 6-week adaptation of the empirically-supported 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program designed to begin the cultivation of the skills of self-compassion. SC-MSC was developed by Kristin Neff, PhD, the pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion and Christopher Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness, compassion and psychotherapy. The SC-MSC 6-hour program was developed to allow participants to begin to learn a targeted set of MSC practices with less initial time commitment than the full 26-hour MSC program.

Participants Will Learn To; Befriend their inner–critic, develop self-compassion skills, lower stress, cultivate boundaries and foster goodwill towards themselves and others. The SC-MSC will explore and present strategies on how to navigate burnout and caregiver fatigue.

Who Should Attend; This course is designed for individuals who identify as caregivers. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required.

Timing; 6 Weeks, June 16, 2024 – July 21, 2024 (every Sunday). 3PM-4:30PM EDT ( 90-minutes per session).
