A Waves-level workshop encountering, exploring, and inhabiting the intersections of ancestry and mystery, linear time and timeless time, cycles of life/death/life. With trance as our portal, and the 5Rhythms movement maps as our guide, we will move with these realms and will weave their wisdom-gifts back into our present-moment embodiment and awareness.

November 1 to 3, 2024 with Joanne Winstanley in Victoria, BC

Friday 6:30 to 9:30pm | Saturday 11:30am to 6pm | Sunday 11am to 5pm

LOCATION: Polish White Eagle Hall, 90 Dock Street (at Niagara), Victoria BC

TUITION:

PREREQUISITES: a minimum of 15 hours of Waves (5Rhythms classes) is recommended.

REFUNDS and CANCELLATIONS:

  • A full refund, less $50, will be issued for cancellations before October 1.
  • A full refund, less $100, will be issued for cancellations before October 18.
  • No refunds after October 18, 2024.

(For cancellations due to testing positive or for a known exposure to Covid, we will offer you a refund less a $100 admin fee. If you fall ill or test positive for Covid during the workshop, any refunds will be on a case by case basis.)

COMMUNITY CARE: Any dancers experiencing cold/flu symptoms are expected to stay home to care for themselves and for the rest of the group. We will review our communicable disease mitigation policies one month prior to the workshop and will communicate any changes to all registered participants. At this point, we expect all participants to rapid test prior to attending.

ACCESSIBILITY: the hall has one flight of stairs (or email in advance if you need to access a lift), and one gender-neutral washroom.

*Tiered pricing is available so that folks with plenty can share, and folks who need support can receive it. When you include a Scholarship donation, a portion of your fee is applied toward another dancer's reduced-rate spot. Joanne teaches 5Rhythms with a deep respect for the transformational nature of this practice, for the insight that these maps can bring to our daily lives, and for the unique discovery process of each participant. Her teaching is rooted in a lifelong engagement with her own study and personal work. Since 2001, she has held a steady space for the growth and evolution of a robust dance community in Victoria BC, has supported students and colleagues with their own teaching path, and has shared her love of this practice with communities in Canada, the US, and Europe.

The 5Rhythms® is a powerful movement practice which guides participants to re-connect with their own innate body-knowledge, wellness, and wisdom. Joanne teaches 5Rhythms (Waves and Heartbeat maps) with a deep respect for the transformational nature of this practice, and for the unique discovery process of each participant. Her teaching is rooted in a lifelong engagement with her own personal work, as well as intensive study with Gabrielle Roth, Jonathan Horan, Kathy Altman, and Andrea Juhan. Since 2001, she has held a steady space for the growth and evolution of a robust dance community in Victoria BC, and has shared her love of this practice with students across North America.
