OpenShift 201 Workshop & Lab

Prerequisites:
- You need a BCGov IDIR account to complete this training. If you're a contractor without an IDIR account, please contact your supervisor to request this well in advance of the training.
• Please ensure you have completed the OpenShift101 workshop and lab exercises before commencing this training. Use this self-assessment quiz to check your knowledge. If you get more than 1 or 2 questions wrong, you may wish to review the OpenShift 101 materials before beginning OpenShift 201.
• In the 101 training, you would have created your own deployment of Rocketchat, gained access to the BC Gov github organisations and practiced using the OC command line tool and OpenShift web console.
• You must complete the OpenShift 101 course and associated lab exercises before beginning OpenShift 201. This is not the right course for you unless you have done this.
• Please allow a minimum of four weeks after beginning OpenShift 101 before commencing OpenShift 201. Ideally, you should take some time (3-6 months) after completing OpenShift 101 to work with your team on the platform before beginning OpenShift 201.

• You must be a member of the BC Gov github orgs. You would have set this up during the OpenShift 101 lab.
• An OpenShift project set created for you from Registry app, which you are an Admin of. You will either receive an email about this in advance of the course, or set this up during the OCP201 kick off.
• The instructions assume the use of a bash-based shell such as zsh (included on OS X) or WSL for Windows. Please set this up prior to the course.

This course is delivered in an online format via MS Teams.
The OpenShift 201 course is held over two consecutive days and is structured as follows:

A lthough we build time in to the schedule for working on the lab exercises, you may need to allocate some additional time in the weeks following the lab in order to complete the lab exercises. The time it takes to complete the exercises may vary based on your level of experience with OpenShift, and on whether you prepare the prerequisite setup prior to the course.

This course is for BC Government staff and contractors only.
The course is primarily focused on developers/devops specialists who are or building applications for BC Government on OpenShift. The content of this course is technical and assumes some technical knowledge .
The workshop sessions describes advanced concepts needed for working well with OpenShift in the BC Government.
The lab sessions are a series of practical OpenShift exercises to explore the topics introduced in the workshop.
