Overview

A presentation & discussion about the ways in which the human mind is set up to cause distress - and what we can do to counteract this.

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to have a brain. In fact you might say it's a necessary feature. However, it's something that has the ability to torment us. You know, those times we are plagued with worry, obsessive ruminating, that non-stop internal commentary. We might even ask ‘is it possible to have this thing surgically removed?’

From Buddhist psychology to theory behind Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It has long been identified our tendency toward incessant negative thinking.

It's true - sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

This is a presentation and discussion about the ways in which the human mind is set up to cause distress. To make us suffer.

Although this part of our nature is necessary, it can become excessive. And so we will spend some time brainstorming ways to combat these tendencies.

I will share my top 3 personal strategies and you will leave with a plan.

It is possible to gain some control of our 'monkey minds'. To cut through the noise and have more serenity. Let's learn about things that can help us breathe easy and not take our thoughts so seriously.

This is sure to be an engaging discussion with really interesting and thoughtful people.

Hope you will come out. Looking forward to meeting you!

-Julie
