Join us for a thrilling celebration of World Bicycle Day at the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area! On Monday, June 3rd from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, we're gearing up for an unforgettable event: Pedal for the Planet.

Pedal power isn't just about transportation – it's about igniting joy and unity. Join us for the ride of a lifetime as we pedal together in celebration of World Bicycle Day.

Join us at Parking Area P2 of the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area which is the South West Off Leash Recreation Area Dog park parking lot with your bicycle The event will take us through trails of the forest. Bring your bicycle, or ride your bicycle to the event.

Please register your bicycle group at ParticipACTION Community Challenge to be eligible for weekly prizes, including the first prize which is the early bird prize for registering in the Month of May!

Please, as an individual take the pledge at the ParticipACTION Community Challenge to be "active" in June in whatever way active is to you!

This event is part of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk, a national initiative that encourages Canadians to get active throughout June. By participating, you're not only contributing to a healthier lifestyle but also supporting our community's chance to win $100,000 to promote local physical activity and sports.

The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas proudly support this event, promoting the motto "Come to Nature, Come to Life!" Join us at the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, where you can explore 326 acres of walking trails and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. Don't forget about the 148-acre George Genereux Urban Regional Park, offering even more opportunities for outdoor adventure.

But the celebration doesn't stop there. Whether you're gardening, walking your dog, or simply enjoying a stroll to the corner store, you can be part of the action. Get your senior's group, sports team, or workplace registered for prizes and help us honor the legacy of Professor Emeritus Don Bailey, the Father of the College of Kinesiology and Canada's ParticipACTION.

Join the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas, a non-profit environmental charity dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Richard St Barbe Baker Afforestation Area and George Genereux Urban Regional Park in Saskatoon. Our mission is to safeguard these vital green spaces while educating the public about their ecological significance and fostering a deep connection to nature.

Explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the afforestation areas by participating in our guided tours, webinars, and educational events. Learn about the rich biodiversity of these sites and discover the benefits of spending time in nature for your health and well-being.

Through our initiatives, we advocate for environmental stewardship and take action to protect these areas from illegal dumping and other threats. Join us in our community clean-ups and restoration projects to make a tangible difference in preserving these treasured landscapes.

The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas Inc. is a not – for – profit incorporation registered with the Information Services Canada (ISC) Saskatchewan, under entity number 102084283.

The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Area's goals are to increase the safety and preservation of the afforestation areas as outlined here.  

As incorporated entities with an unique identity, Friends are governed by board members; and have customized organizational by-laws and letters patent.  Friends work locally with the City of Saskatoon park superintendent, MVA guidance, and other park liaisons as designated by the park superintendent. In Ontario, there are many, many Friends of the Park organizations, working together collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial objectives.
