THE SYNOPSIS
Penny & Pound's WODL Award-nominated production of Distel & Distel's LITTLE HEAVEN is returning to the Guelph stage! Set amidst the backdrop of post-World War II Poland, LITTLE HEAVEN weaves together the stories of those most affected by the horrors of the past, as they grapple to rebuild their lives. Leo Meier, a newspaper reporter from Berlin, wrestles with the guilt he harbours for the small part he played in perpetuating the Reich's hateful message. Romani violin virtuoso, Maestro Covali, attempts to start anew following the tragic deaths of his wife and young daughters. The Jewish Hoffson family are torn apart by tradition and a dark secret that is eating partriarch Solomon alive. Catholic siblings Joseph and Katherine Worcheka learn what it means to love and be loved, despite societal obligations.
Told through song, scene and monologue, the stories of Maél Niebo's residents are intertwined, exploring themes of grief, hereditary bias and the power of community.
NOTE: LITTLE HEAVEN features scenes and scenarios that may be upsetting or triggering to some. Viewer discretion is advised.
