About this event

Alexis O'Hara will be hosting a performance workshop in the SUN FM room of the Rotary Centre, as part of the Inspired Word Cafe's New Leaves Festival on June 22nd.

Alexis O’Hara has traveled internationally with her spoken-noise performances, co-created (with 2boys.tv) large-scale performance works with queer artists from Cuba, Mexico, Brazil and Nicaragua, and toured a popular sound installation that offered a stage for spontaneous musical collaboration between strangers. She has released four albums, a book of poetry and enough helium-filled balloons to get her dress caught in a chandelier.

We know this free workshop will book up quick, so be sure to register your spot!

Inspired Word Cafe's annual New Leaves festival will this year feature the theme of “Queer Art as Resistance,” focussing on celebrating queer arts through drag, poetry, music, comedy, dance and more. For three days in Kelowna’s downtown core, a host of artists from from the Okanagan and across Canada will perform (in both French and English) and put on workshops. The New Leaves Festival will run from June 20th-22nd at different venues around Kelowna, and you can find out more on our website.
