About this event

Paint a bisqueware dessert plate in the Ukrainian folk art style of Petrykivka with local artist Olena Chorna! The workshop will begin with a short artist talk about Olena's peronal development as an artist, her art practice, and the history of Petrykivka painting. Following the presentation, participants will get a chance to practice their technique and plan their design with acryillic paint on paper. Participants will then move to applying their newely learned technique to decoarte the surface of a bisqueware dessert plate with underglaze.

The bisqueware plates for this workshop were professionally wheel-thrown by Potter Scott Barnim.


After the Workshop

Your artwork will be clear glazed and high-fired in our studio for a food-safe finish. You will receive an email when they are ready for pick up approximately 4 weeks after the workshop. Click here to see if your pieces are ready for pickup!

About Olena

With roots in Dnipro City, Ukraine, Olena found joy in observing nature and painting on plein air during her childhood. She was then accepted into the Classic Fine Art at the Soviet Union Art Academy and went on to pursue architecture at Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Olena's mission is to globally introduce Petrykivka decoarative painting to help people discover the uniqueness of one-stroke folk art & to honour the rich artistic heritage of Petrykivka.
