About this event

  • 12 hours

The summer edition of Pique, Debaser's seasonal festival series that takes over the downtown Arts Court building complex, is always the largest and most dynamic of the year, and this summer's event is no exception. Held indoors and outdoors, Pique takes over three floors, nine stages and exhibition spaces, and half of Daly Avenue. The festival showcases innovative and underground music and art for all ages, and admission is pay-what-you-can.

Featuring performances by bold hyperpop songwriter and performance artist Alice Longyu Gao, psychotropical dub producer Honeydrip, spellbinding composer-musician Masahiro Takahashi, commanding punk rave duo Pelada, contemporary Inuit throat-singers Silla, sky-gazing performance art environmentalists Horizon Factory, high-octane selector angelphroot, community-engaged improviser Douglas Ewart, ballroom performance artists BubbleGum 007 and Fiji Siriano 007, afro-diasporic sound selector San Farafina, and many more. With programs guest curated by Chukwubuikem & Kosisochukwu Nnebe and Harley Wegner, Pique summer edition is a confluence of curatorial perspectives, and a showcase of various global subcultures.

In total, over 30 artists and curators will present work across nine stages and exhibition spaces, featuring live music, dance, performance art, visual media, and installation. Plus, the Pique art market returns to Daly Avenue featuring more than 25 artist and food vendors (learn more about how to submit at debaser.ca).

Broadcasting live from Club SAW and the SAW Courtyard, tune into the Cybernetique anywhere in the world at thisispique.com/live-stream. Featuring dynamic performances and live-to-air interviews, the Pique live broadcast features exclusive content and professional-quality audio and visuals, making it about as good as being there in person. You can also join the interactive Zoom watch party, Cybernetique, to engage with our hosts and socialize with fellow virtual attendees.

As always, tickets to Pique are financially accessible at a sliding scale of $25-50 suggested, or pay-what-you-can by registration.

PLEASE NOTE that while a tickets gains you access to the festival, each individual venue space within is subject to capacity, and your ticket does not guarantee you access to each performance. Consult the schedule and arrive early to the stage to ensure you catch the performance(s) you want to see!
