Sharon Rose Kooteneay is a Metis Artist from central Alberta, Treaty 6 territory and a founder of the Aboriginal Arts Council which facilitates traditional arts instruction and creative retreats for Indigenous youth and women in Alberta. Working with traditional materials, Sharon Rose is one of Alberta's principle interpreters of geometric beadwork design.

In 2021, Sharon was the recipient of the Alberta Craft Council’s Biennial Craft Excellence Award, and along with her collaborator Jason Symington, shortlisted for the 2021 Eldon + Anne Foote Edmonton Visual Arts Award. Sharon Rose just finished her year as the Alberta Artist In Residence on March 31, 2024.

About the Saturday Zoom: Sharon Rose Kootenay will discuss her recent experiences as Alberta Artist In Residence and her celebratory project comprising 2 parts: Kihohkewin // Gone Visiting and Pihtikwe // Come In! Sharon Rose will discuss what she learned from this experience as Artist In Residence and how it will influence her future work and projects. After her presentation, Sharon Rose will answer your questions.
