This class will take you through the basics of good vector document preparation for any 2-dimensional CNC tool.
This class will cover the steps for using the laser, from creating an image in the proper format to correct and safe operation of the laser itself.
Participants will cut or etch their own class completion certificates, which we'll keep at Site 3 as the way to know who is allowed to use the laser, and will get to do a cut/etch job of their own design to take home.
Please bring a laptop and a USB drive to use. If you have preferred graphics software such as Illustrator or CorelDraw, have that preloaded.
This class is a required certification for all members and associates before they are permitted to use the laser. The focus is on safety and understanding the laser's workflow by completing a simple task. Finished projects take more time and experimenting than is available in this class - please expect to return on another day to continue individual project work.
- You must have a basic understanding of vector illustration in order to take this class.
- Acrylic is supplied for this class. If you wish to laser something else, you must clear it with the event host before arrival.
- PVC and ABS plastics, Lexan or other polycarbonate, and things which are apt to let off a lot of foul smoke are not permitted in the laser.
