Summer in the City is YAIJs supported neighborhood exploration initative focused on historical, relevant, and fun trips around the city as well as safety education and training.

This initiative supports learning and development of neurodiverse youth with and without intellectual disabilities in selected cities and surrounding areas.

Scheduled trips and activities are available on a weekly basis.

Online safety workshops are required.

Professional support personnel are on hand to to ensure all participants are meaningfully engaged.

Transportation to and from our satelight office (Toronto and Surrey only) is available if needed.Transportation is primarily via public transit and rideshare.

There are 2 trips or 2 activities, and 1 safety workshop scheduled each week. Trip and activity days begin at 11am and end at 4pm. Trips and activities are subject to change based on weather conditions, support staff schedules, and participant preferences.

Registrants will receive their weekly schedule after registering.

This summer's weekly themes include:

☆ Knowing your neighborhood

☆ Outdoor adventures

☆ Self-defense

☆ Road sports (RCs, gokarting)

☆ Personal safety

Summer in the City is available in Surrey, Vancouver, and Halifax.
