About this event

  • 2 hours

This workshop is tailored for youth workers who are passionate about fostering leadership among young people. We'll explore how to reach out to young leaders of all different levels of participation, understand all the different ways leadership can look, and find the best ways to support youth. You’ll also get a peek at what’s happening at Quadra Village Community Centre youth programs and learn how you can collaborate with youth to dream up and co-create new programs. Engage with peers in a warm, supportive environment, and leave equipped to invite and amplify youth voices in your programs.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Engage Diverse Youth Leaders: Learn fun and effective ways to connect with youth who might not see themselves as leaders yet, and help them find their voice.

2. Explore Leadership in New Ways: Discover the many faces of youth leadership and how to nurture each style to fully support your young leaders.

3. Create With Youth, Not Just For Them: Pick up tips on working together with youth to build programs that truly reflect their ideas and passions.

This workshop is part of the Looking Forward Youth Project series. It is open to community youth programmers.

Please note that we have limited seating available for this workshop, with space for only 15 people.

ABOUT YOUR TRAINER:

Olivia Reid (She/They) is a Child and Youth Care Worker who works at the Quadra Village Community Centre as the youth programs facilitator which she has been at for a year. Olivia runs programs such as social connections, youth drop-in, and Crew which is the pre-employment and life skills program which sees the most youth leadership. In Crew, youth plan events, learn about life transferable skills, and develop various forms of leadership while learning what leadership means to them. Originally from Saskatchewan, Olivia was the youngest of 3 older brothers which made her learn quickly how to speak up and be bold and confident. In her free time, Olivia crochets, works on collaborative writing projects, and indulges in creative expression through the form of art. It is the hope of Olivia that this workshop makes you feel empowered to lead the next generation of leaders.
