OACETT's Technology Report Writing instructor-led webinars focus on teaching engineering and applied science technicians and technologists the techniques and skills required to write successful technology proposals and reports.

OACETT members working towards their C.E.T. designation and wanting to sharpen their technical writing skills.

Overview of Workshop:
Participants will receive a copy of the presentation and personalized feedback on their Titles, Problem Statements, and Proposals from the instructor.
Hour 1
- Discussion of suitable topics, what makes a good topic, sample topics
- Choosing a topic
- Looking at sample titles, discuss rules for titles
- How to write a title
- Sample problem statements, and rules for problem statements
- How to write a problem statement
- Quick review of a sample proposal
- Components of proposal
- Write a proposal
Hour 2
- Mandatory and optional components of the report
- Order of the components as required by OACETT
- Information included in each component/section
- Brief review of formatting details, if time allows
- Q & A
*All members in attendance will receive a certificate they can use towards CPD.

Instructor: Samantha Burns, M.A.
Samantha Burns has a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a Master’s degree in Education from Brock University. She has been training the OACETT Technology Report Writing Seminar since 2008 and has helped many OACETT Associate Members gain the confidence and knowledge to complete their technology reports and earn their C.E.T. certification. She has a strong knowledge of the field of adult education. She has held teaching, training, and program development positions with various educational organizations including the University of French West Indies and Guiana (Martinique), the Niagara Catholic District School Board, and the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. She is currently an instructor in the English Language Program at the University of Guelph.
