About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join us as we discover the truly amazing and creative importance of tinkering in the early years. Tinkering is using one’s full focus on generating new ideas, concepts and understandings through the use of materials. This innovative hands-on approach will allow you to consider how you might use nature to create tinkering spaces in your own centre or classroom.

Tinkering assemblage challenges elements of design to create new ways of thinking about materials in your classroom. Come and explore connections between open-ended play, science concepts, artistic design, engineering, and markerspaces. The art of tinkering deepens a child’s understanding of the aesthetic qualities materials and allows the educator to inquire deeply about the learning happening.
