About this event

With grisly tales of war and plague, duels and executions, people can learn a lot about Toronto through stories whose endings were anything but peaceful. This talk by Historian and author Adam Bunch delves into those tales – from the murder of Toronto’s first lighthouse keeper to the séances that grabbed headlines in the wake of the First World War – and how the city's shifting attitudes toward death have impacted the way Torontonians see their own history.

Organized by

Doors Open Toronto invites the public to explore the city’s most-loved buildings and sites for free each year during the last weekend of May. The event provides rare access to spaces not usually open to the public and free access to locations that would otherwise charge an admission fee. Since its inception in 2000, Doors Open Toronto has attracted more than two million visits to nearly 700 unique sites and is the largest event of its kind in Canada.
