10am-4pm

Village Creek Country Inn: Spruceview Room

Join Sarah Salter Kelly and Janelle Ford for a nourishing day of exploration through nature, sound, yoga and a trauma as medicine session. Experience first hand the support that all of the teachings from the day can give you and that you can take home with you for continued guidance.

Retreat Schedule

10am: Introductions & Opening Circle

10:15-11:15am: Yoga, Essential Oils & Sound Healing with Janelle

In this session you will experience a yoga practice with yoga poses, essential oils and energy exercises that will focus specifically on supporting and opening your heart. Class will finish with some sound healing with crystal bowls.

11:15 - 11:30am: Break time to enjoy some visiting on the deck, some tea or coffee and light refreshments.

11:30am-12pm: Trauma as Medicine Session with Sarah

In this session, Sarah shares her inspirational story as a template to guide you in your own journey of transformation. She encourages you to consider the life lessons you came here to learn are found in the center of your greatest challenges, and if you lean in, miracles unfold.

Sarah challenges us to lean into shared humanity, contemplating a new way to address conflict, grief and suffering, with a vision forward for the collective healing of all. As we move through the day she will also be sharing some of her tools from her book Trauma as Medicine so you experience first hand how they can support you.

12-12:30pm: Guided Meditation with Sarah

Sarah supports you in cultivating a sense of peace and balance through breath and guided imagery. This is foundational in rooting our ability to address grief, trauma or stress on a somatic level.

12:30-2pm: Catered Picnic Box Lunch from Eco Cafe & Free Time

Enjoy a nourishing picnic box from Eco Cafe on the deck or by the pond. After lunch, enjoy some free time strolling the boardwalk, the ravine bridge or relax and take a nap on your mat!

2-2:30pm: Energy Body Session with Sarah

Your energy body - or bubble- holds the sensory awareness of your human experience. The more you are able to attune to your energy body and what you are holding/carrying, the easier it is to release what doesn’t serve you and open to the light of your highest potential. This exercise is taken directly from Sarah’s book Trauma as Medicine.

2:30-3pm: Forest Walk & Grounding Practice with Sarah

What specific tree, bush or wild flowers are you attracted too and why. Learn how to use your energy body to connect with your plant teacher and have a conversation with what medicine or gifts they have for you.

3-3:15pm: Break

3:15-4pm: Closing Circle & Personalized Book Signing

Sarah will have her books on hand for sale and will sign yours with a unique and special message just for you!

Janelle Ford

Yoga came into my life as a healing modality when I was dealing with chronic stress, burnout and PTSD. So I decided to take a teacher training for my mental and physical health. I didn’t think I would teach but that quickly changed after I saw how much yoga was helping those who I was teaching throughout my training!

I started teaching at Pigeon Lake where I grew up and then opened a wellness studio at Pigeon Lake and ran that for 10 years which closed during covid.

I have completed numerous trainings including a 500HR Yoga Teacher Training, Yin Yoga Levels 1 & 2, Restorative Yoga, Aroma Yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Movement Template Training, Advanced Meditation, Healthy Aging and a Sound Healing Training. I also have a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta specializing in Active Living, Health & Well-being which led me into working in private health clubs as a fitness trainer. I also worked as an athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach for mens' and boys' lacrosse teams.

I now run Pigeon Lake Wellness Mobile Studio and offer mobile classes and events at Pigeon Lake, in Edmonton and Leduc. I also offer an online studio that includes a variety of yoga, fitness and stress relief classes.

I love to teach fun, educational and inspiring classes and continue to do so because I see how healing yoga can be. It supports our holistic health and longevity by keeping us mobile, strong and independent.

My hope is that everyone who comes to class feels lifted, loved, supported and cared for each time they step onto their mat!
