About this event

  • 3 hours 30 minutes

On June 26th 5:30pm, we are hosting some awesome and talented speakers at Northeastern University, Vancouver Campus!

This month we will be inviting Paul Dean from Pacific Drive, Dan Floyd from New Frame Plus and the team at Original Fire Games to share their game development experiences at the event!

An Indie Team's Journey to Sustainability

Original Fire Games is a 4 person studio dedicated to distilling the thrill and beauty of racing into arcade motorsport experiences. Our debut title, Circuit Superstars, delivered extraordinary gameplay and features that few teams of oursize have achieved. In 2023 we self-published KartingSuperstars, which we built over 6 weeks, leveraging all our existing technology.

The Write Way - Games Narrative Done Good

Paul was first published as a child poet and hasn't stopped writing since. He's worked as a journalist, RPG designer, video game writer, YouTube critic and much more, speaking at a host of conventions and appearing as a guest on both BBC and CBC radio. Most recently, he wrote for the popular indie game Pacific Drive. Critically acclaimed, Stephanie Sterling of The Jimquisition said "[It] happens to feature some impeccably funny writing... I am absolutely calling Pacific Drive a Game of the Year contender."

Q&A with Dan Floyd

Dan Floyd has been working in the film and video game industries as an animator since 2010, contributing animation to various Pixar short films and game franchises such as State of Decay, Halo and Homeworld. He is also a YouTube veteran, creator of multiple long-running series such as Extra Credits and, more recently, New Frame Plus and PlayFrame.
