The Children's Advocacy Center of Guernsey County
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Guernsey County is a nationally accredited, child focused nonprofit agency that provides a safe and child friendly place for children to share their stories of abuse and begin the healing process. The Center opened in 2006 so children in Guernsey County would have a secure, supportive setting during the most difficult moments of their lives.
The CAC conducts every forensic interview in Guernsey County for children who have experienced sexual assault, severe physical abuse, neglect, or boundary concerns. These interviews are completed by specially trained professionals and are dual recorded to reduce trauma and prevent children from undergoing repeated questioning.
In addition to forensic interviews, the CAC provides referrals to mental health services for children and their families and coordinates support with partner agencies. Families receive ongoing case management to reduce duplication of services and ensure their needs are met with care and compassion. The CAC also continues to see an increase in referrals from outside Guernsey County as surrounding areas rely on its specialized services.
The Center contracts with a Medical Director and a SANE trained nurse to provide specialized medical exams for child victims when needed.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Guernsey County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is nationally accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. The Center is supported by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, the Ohio Governor’s Office, and is a member of both the Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers and the National Children’s Alliance.
Every child deserves safety, support, and hope. The Children’s Advocacy Center of Guernsey County works every day to make that possible.
